Dreamscape

So I am not an astrology kind of person, and I don’t really believe in it. But I was so bored at work this morning that I opened this Yahoo! article for your Zodiac Astrology in 2012. Funny how there’s one part in Pisces that goes,

You’ve got the angelic influence of the planets on your side this year. Use this beneficient time to make your dreams a reality. This is what you do best, Pisces, since life is more like a dreamscape or art film to you anyway.

I especially love the part about life being a dreamscape.

Most of the time I actually think I live life in a trance-like, dreamlike way. A lot of people tell me I seem way too happy. I smile too much. I laugh too loudly. Like what is wrong with me, don’t I have anything to worry about?

Honestly, I cannot say that my life is harder than most, because it’s not. I live a pretty average life, with an average family, average job, average relationship status (single!). But I think what makes me weird is how I tend to look at life. I love it.

Seriously, I love this world. I love people. I love how a conversation can change strangers to friends. I love how 2 people can have no contact for a long time and still talk like they never lost touch. I love how somebody’s smile can make you smile. I love the sound of laughter echoing in a room. I love talking so fast when I’m excited that the other person can’t understand my story. I love how falling in love makes a person adorably cute and mushy. I love finding the good side in everyone. I love sleeping with a smile because of a goodnight text.

Yeah, in short, I love this life. And no happening to date has made me doubt that so far. There are always 2 sides to a story, the be-affected-and-linger or learn-and-move-on. I usually prefer the second. Tomorrow holds too much promise for happiness to be held back by the travesties of the past.

And I do hope I make my dreams a reality this year. Thanks to the planets, of course.

What’s in a gift?

Today, I received possibly the most effortful (is that a word?) gift anyone has ever given me in my entire life. Suffice to say, I was shocked to see a scrapbook of my pictures compiled by another person, who has actually not known me for that long yet. Blame Facebook. And my vanity.

What makes a gift special? Of course we all love the idea of receiving presents, but I can safely assume that there are certain gifts that we appreciate more than others. For reasons like:

  1. The sender is special. I am pretty sure if you have a major crush on some guy, you will absolutely treasure anything he gives you. Sentimental people (like me) might even keep candy wrappers. And gift wrappers. And receipts from restaurants. Whatever.
  2. It’s something you’ve always wanted. Especially when it’s expensive. Especially when it’s an expensive gadget. HAHA.
  3. The element of surprise. I guess one of my personal reasons for loving a gift is when I don’t expect it, or I did not ask for it myself. Just because I love being surprised.
  4. It’s something memorable. Or a memento of something special. But of course.

Anyhow, no matter what the gift is, the more important matter is the feeling behind it. It’s hard to appreciate a gift without appreciating the feeling. Just as it does not matter who likes you. What matters is whom you like.

So I missed blogging.

My New Year’s Resolution this year, is to start blogging. Pure, un-kpop-ed, wordy blogging.

Hoho.

I am against Human Trafficking! Are you? If you are, Watch MTV Exit and get your tickets at Astroplus! Oct 29 | SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds

It’s a sad, sad phenomenon that despite all its beauty and grandeur, the Philippines is slowly becoming infamous for the things that but a few people are responsible for. Corruption in the government. The worst airport. Human trafficking.
Yes, you read that right. Human trafficking. Trafficking of people, especially women and children to a life of slavery and prostitution. If you thought slave markets were things of the ancient past, well, you are wrong. The Philippines is one of the countries with the highest number of prostituted children. Apparently, we have a very active sex trade industry, and what’s worse, most victims are children ages 12 and above.
We do have a law- RA 9308, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, but as with all regulations, the written law is useless without people brave enough to uphold it. And like in this case where the victims are powerless children, who would be brave enough to go against the influential people and stand up for these innocent kids?
No one. No one, until we all stand up together as one. You may say that you are just one and there is nothing you can do about it, well I am telling you that you are one, and you can definitely do something about it. Action begins with awareness. Open your eyes to the reality of what is happening to our country, to the women and children who are being robbed of the lives that they could have had. We should put a stop to the naiveness of society, because evil thrives when everyone turns a blind eye to it.
It is naive to say that there is nothing we can do about it when world organizations such as the US Aid and Australian AID are doing everything they can to let the Filipinos know, to put an end to Exploitation and Trafficking. to EXIT.
This may be just a concert to some, but this is definitely more than that. This is a light of hope for the children, for the future of our country.

HINDI IKAW ANG GUSTO NIYANG MAKATEXT

ang tagal ko nang hindi nafeel yung nagaantay ka ng text. and the frustrations that come with it. XD

I think most of us have a first-duty bias.

And we find it a little too hard to love the 2nd duty as much as the first.

It’s like finding your first love and then never wanting to let go.

Haha.
